before & after: wine rack

As you might have noticed I get bored really easy. Bored with furniture, that is. I bought this wine rack last year but never really liked the black paint. And ever since I found my favorite new spray paint at Claassen Art Gallery in downtown SLO, I have been obsessed with painting anything and everything. The owner, Jeff, has every color in the rainbow. So I decided to paint the wine rack a pretty turquoise and found coordinating paper at Papyrus for the top. And the best part about the paper: it has velvet birds.

(After the first coat. The old paper wouldn't come off, so I had to cover with the new paper from Papyrus.)
(Attaching the paper with spray-on glue)

(It now holds my typewriter and my newest flea market find, a Chinese foo lion)

things i love

(This man was styling at the Giants game. I wish I could have got his red pants in the shot)

Summertime to me means attending Giant’s games, eating lunch outside, grilling bell peppers, eating fresh fruit and family visits. Other than my upstairs apartment being unbearably hot (thanks to no air conditioning here in SLO), my summer is off to the perfect start. I’ve already been to one baseball game, barbequed at least once a week, and enjoyed a visit from some of my favorite women.

(Santana Row on a Saturday night)
(An old-school stove that I would love to have in a house someday)
(Grilled bell peppers with goat cheese)
(My mom and grandma in downtown SLO)
(Grandma Judy modeling my vintage Stella McCartney heels)
(The perfect summer breakfast, made by my mother, Martha Stewart)

free vintage couch!

This couch is on the corner of Islay and Morro St in San Luis Obispo if anyone wants it! I think it looks great as it is, or would be a good DIY project!  I love the vintage feel the flowers bring to the couch! Go get it before it’s gone! And let me know if you do :)

summertime = dresses (and rompers!)

Summer weather is finally here! That means I finally get to wear my summer dresses, along with my rompers. Here are a few of my favorites that I plan on wearing all summer long. I can’t wait to wear the red romper to a couple of Fourth of July parties back home, with white wedges and my favorite tan and gold belt. I almost had an anxiety attack when I found the navy floral Joie dress for 60% off at Bloomingdales. I also scored on the polka dot dress from Anthropologie for $39.95. And while flipping through my closet I came across this oldie (but goodie) yellow dress I’ve had for a few years and for some reason forgot about.

things i love

(My new Anthropologie lampshade to top off my thrift store lamp {seen here})

I love summertime.  It is hands down my favorite season. I love lying out by the pool, drinking crisp white wine, relaxing at my parent’s house on the Fourth of July, and the long summer nights. And even though the weather doesn’t feel like summer yet, it hasn’t stopped me from indulging in some summertime activities.

(Some Mrs. Meyer's soap my friend Shawn gave me)
(Is it Pellegrino sparkling water or some white wine in disguise? Nothing like sipping white wine incognito in downtown SLO)
(Seeing this sign always makes me nervous!)
(Stuffed bell peppers for dinner - a summertime staple)

swap meet sundays

(Shawn's camera for $10)
Some of my girlfriends finally got to experience the swap meet when they came to visit a few weeks ago. We got a little bit of a late start, but we found some AMAZING pieces to take home. Shawn found the coolest vintage camera for $10 (I am SO jealous of her for finding it first!), along with a couple of blue Mason jars. Meagan bought a bright yellow table with wheels that will work as the perfect bar cart. I found an orange step stool, just right for my kitchen. And I found a vintage Webster typewriter that I now have friend’s type notes with when they come to stay at my house. Jayne didn’t find anything this time, but that means she will just have to come visit again soon!

(Presidential marbles, anyone?)
(And more marbles...)
(Cool coffee table but way overpriced at $25)
 (Tribal mask)
(Shawn's blue Mason jar, along with a Blackhorse coffee)
(Green trunk for $35)
(My typewriter and Meagan's yellow table)
(My orange step stool)
(Random accordion)
(A Moroccan pouf Shawn and I almost killed each other over. Too bad he wanted $75)
( The girls checking out some vintage purses)
(Shawn modeling her camera)
(My typewriter, for $15, sits perfectly on my desk)
(My orange step stool, perfect for when I need to reach for more wine glasses)

obsessed

While I was scrolling through the Anthropologie sale I stumbled upon this FABULOUS sette. It’s regular $298, on sale for $149 with an additional 25%, which means it’s only $112!!  I’m dying. I want it so bad. The only problem is I have nowhere to put it in my house. Someone please buy it so I can admire it in their home! I will even come and rearrange your house so it will fit perfectly :)

goodwill hunting

I give my boyfriend, Ryan, props for putting up with my swap meet, flea market and thrift store obsession. I’ve recently been spending a lot of time in Gilroy with him, so naturally I wanted to see how their thrift stores measured up to SLO’s. I can’t lie, I was impressed! Their Salvation Army was incredible! I wanted to buy all of the furniture and spray paint it in fun colors like orange or turquoise. Our next stop was the Goodwill. When I first saw this Vermouth Bianco framed picture I wasn’t sure if I liked it. Price tag = $12.99. Ryan finally convinced me to get it. And I am so happy I did. After some quick googling in the car, we found out they retail for $75! Score! It now hangs perfectly in my kitchen.

anthro sale!

Sometimes I think the people at Anthropologie want me to be broke. Especially when they send out emails that say “extra 25% off all sale”. Too bad I was there yesterday buying some awesome sale stuff. I’ll just have to get a price adjustment this weekend…and maybe pick up a few more things. They have AMAZING things on sale right now, plus the extra 25% off that. So get with it. Start shopping! You can thank me for this post later :)
